On April 6, soloist Jeon Somi took to her Instagram Stories to post a light-hearted video along with the caption, “ㅋㅋㅋ OMG MOM.” The clip shows the singer filming herself through the reflection of a glass window in an outdoor area. She’s wearing a bright red crop top and low-rise sweatpants, revealing her midriff — a bold and trendy look.
However, what stole the spotlight was her mom’s hilarious reaction. Clearly not on board with her daughter’s daring outfit, Somi’s mom quickly rushed over to pull up her pants in an attempt to cover her belly button. Somi protested, saying, “No, mom!” and tried to pull her pants back down. In return, her mom tugged her crop top downward, prompting Somi to quip, “The top is supposed to go up, and the pants are supposed to go down!”
The adorable back-and-forth between the fashion-forward daughter and her modest mom had fans laughing, with many relating to the classic parent-child struggle over clothes especially when on vacation.
Meanwhile, Jeon Somi first debuted in 2016 as a member of the project girl group I.O.I, and later established herself as a successful solo artist. In August 2024, she released the summer special single “Ice Cream”, but the lack of promotions and activities in-between her comeback has led to speculations about neglect, which Somi personally addressed.
